Nocturnal Pests Creatures of the Night

March 02, 20252 min read

They awake and make themselves ready for mischief while you snuggle nice in your bed and dreaming away. They’re probably prowling around your house or munching in your garden while you snooze.

When the lights go out, it’s easy to overlook the stealthy critters who come out to play when we’re not looking. But don’t worry. We’re here to identify some of the more common nocturnal nuisances that may be hanging around.

Moths

Not all moths are night owls, however, and many like a little darkness! Some are beautiful garden aides that assist in pollination, while others will make your pantry a restaurant for one  and not the tasty type! To stave them off, ensure your food containers are sealed tightly, and your cupboards are clean.

Bedbugs

Oh no, the infamous bedbugs! These tiny bugs are also known as the vampires of the insect world. They’re experts at hiding, so they’re difficult to detect. If you see bites, that’s a sign that they may be partying in your home.

Cockroaches

Cockroaches are one of the most hated pests among homeowners and businesses! They enjoy remaining hidden throughout the day and coming out at night to seek their next meals. Even if you don’t encounter them throughout the day, it gives you a reason to stay aware. They might not bite, but their droppings may lead to health problems such as asthma and allergies. If you see cockroaches at night, you should call in the pros immediately.

Rats

Rats are typically nocturnal but can be seen during the day, particularly when they’re searching for food. They are most active just before sunrise and right after sunset, but can be on the move at any time! Rats are bad enough without these unwanted hitchhikers like fleas and ticks, so it’s a good idea to make sure they never enter your home or business.

If you see any signs of rats just reach out for help.
